Mississauga Library is brimming with fun activities and resources to keep one and all entertained. Be it family time or getting crafty, thelibrary has plenty of options to enjoy this season.
Watch Holiday Movies
For some great entertainment, there’s always Kanopy. It gives you an option for streaming a large selection of holiday movies: perfect to add to those family movie nights. Put on a show of popcorn as you spend quality time together with the family, with these traditional favorite tunes.
Listen to Holiday Music
Holiday music provides the ideal atmosphere, and with Freegal, library cardholders can stream holiday playlists of music. If hosting a party or simply want to hear the sounds of cheer, Freegal offers the songs that will add fun to your home.
Enjoy Digital Magazines
For those cold nights in when you don’t want to leave home, the library has Flipster, a digital magazine service. You can read all types of magazines, from cooking to fashion, on your device. With new issues available, it is a great way to relax and enjoy some reading during the holidays.
Make Hand-Crafted Gifts
Add a personal touch to your gifts: The library’s Craftsy platform has many do-it-yourself video tutorials that will help in creating handmade presents, from unique ornaments to custom gift sets; this is one way to make holiday giving extra special.
The library also has a number of collaborative spaces called Makerspaces where you can access services, technology and equipment. While some Makerspace equipment requires a library card it is available for free if you live, work or go to school in Mississauga.
For instance, you can schedule a festive photo shoot with the photo and video studios, create a gift with our sewing machines and heat presses, or develop your holiday cards with our Adobe software. Here is what you can expect to find at a Makerspace location:
- 3D printers
- Heat presses
- Laser cutters
- Photo and video studios
- Sewing machines
- Software
- Sound booths

- Vinyl cutters
- Fun TV Shows for Kids
And of course, don’t forget to involve the kids in the holiday fun. The library’s CBC corner is stocked with children’s favourite TV programs. Your little ones will enjoy different interactive and educational programs for free even without a library card as you attend to all other holiday preparations.
